Future in the past

It is used to talk about something that was in the future at a certain point in the past, something you expected or planned would happen after that moment. We typically use the future in the past when talking about plans, possibilities, or predictions we had about things that happened. There are two ways to talk about the future in the past:

• “Would + infinite verb”. It is a structure used to talk about what someone thought or said would happen in the future, from a past perspective.
• “Was/were going to + infinitive verb”. This form shows what someone intended or expected to do in the future, from a past point in time.

Se usa para hablar de algo que estaba en el futuro en un momento determinado del pasado, algo que se esperaba o planeaba que sucediera después de ese momento. Normalmente usamos el futuro en el pasado cuando hablamos de planes, posibilidades o predicciones que teníamos sobre cosas que sucedieron. Hay dos maneras de hablar del futuro en pasado:

• “Would + verbo en infinitivo”. Es una estructura que se usa para hablar de lo que alguien pensó o dijo que sucedería en el futuro, desde una perspectiva pasada.
• “Was/were going to + verbo en infinitivo”. Esta forma muestra lo que alguien pretendía o esperaba hacer en el futuro, desde una perspectiva pasada.
